Scuba Tech of NW Florida

Scuba Tech of NW Florida, Inc. is where you can go to learn to scuba
dive in Destin, Florida or charter a dive trip if you are already
certified. Learn the ropes of scuba diving or just try it out to see
if like it via the “Try SCUBA” program.

The Try SCUBA program takes customers out on the Mongoose, a 33-foot
pontoon boat Coast Guard certified four up to 30 passengers, to the
dive site and allows them to be independent from any connections to
the land and dive down to a maximum of 40 feet under the water. At
this depth, divers will be able to explore the site and get a feel of
what it is like to scuba dive. If they enjoy the experience, it’s time
to move on to further instruction, and ScubTech provides the best. It
is a Universal Referral Facility with complete certification abilities
acceptable at all SCUBA agencies. Try SCUBA counts towards Open Water
certification, should you choose to continue training.

Snorkeling is also available where you will be taken to one of two
different locations where you will be able to get in the water and
look around using a snorkel to breath. Prices range from $25 to $30
per person, and these trips last up to three hours and also may offer
the Try SCUBA program. Riders must be at least five years old.

For those people who have been certified to dive in open water,
ScubaTech offers charters and trips. The charter is a four-hour,
two-dive trip to Destin’s natural limestone ledges, wrecks, and/or
artificial reefs on the Sea Cobra, the fasted and most comfortable
boat for its size in the Destin area, with two drop-down ladders on a
large platform and two giant-stride entries to make getting on and off
easy. Tank racks and bench seats are designed for divers’ comfort.

On a typical scuba charter trip, you will dive down about 87 to 90
feet on the first dive and see the natural limestone ledge featuring
soft corals, tropical fish, and sponges and
ranging from two to 10 feet in height and up to 110 feet deep. On the
second dive you will dive down about 55 to 70 feet to see one of many
wrecks in the area including three barges, two Liberty ships,
airplanes LST landing craft, Miss Louise tug boat, and Destin’s Bridge
Rubble. Dive charters are also available to the Destin jetties. Rates
are typically $80 per person, and equipment is not included in this
price. Minimum age is 12.

Visit the ScubaTech dive shop where you can rent equipment or purchase
