Built into the ever popular WaterColor Inn and Resort is the BeachClub
Grille. The BeachClub Grille is an outside eating area for those that
are staying at the WaterColor Inn and Resort. Since the BeachClub
Grille is strictly an outdoor restaurant, it is not open all year or
every day. They are only open during the warm weather seasons. Even
during the warm weather seasons, they are only open on the days that
the weather is not rainy or generally unfavorable. However, the good
thing about the BeachClub Grille being an outdoors restaurant is that
while they are open, you are able to sit on their exclusive front
patio and have a delicious meal while you admire the beautiful view of
the Gulf. Also you are able to order off of their menu and have it
brought down to the pool, so you don’t have to travel far at all for a
good meal while having a fun, relaxing day at the pool.

The BeachClub Grille offers a variety of delectable options to choose
from including everything from salads to sandwiches and everything in
between. Some of these options include the Crispy Gulf Crab Sliders,
the BeachClub Burger, and their grilled chicken Caesar wrap. When it
comes to their salads, they offer a tomato salad, a seasonal fruit
salad, and a Greek salad, among others. All of their salads can be
topped with grilled chicken, crispy crab cakes, and grilled or
blackened fresh fish.

Another good time to stop by for a meal at the BeacClub Grille is just
before sunset, so you can catch the breathtaking view as the sun sets
over the Gulf while enjoying a great meal. They also have a bar for
those adults looking to relax after a long day of playing at the beach
or pool.

Harbor Watersports offers parasailing and dolphin tours to adventure
seeking Destin, Florida vacationers.

If you are looking for a reputable company to take you and your family
on a parasailing adventure, Harbor Watersports offers a 1.5- to 2-hour
boat ride for as many as 12 people. With about 800 feet of rope, you
will be soaring up to 500 feet above the ocean in no time, and each
person can expect to be up in the air for about 10 to 12 minutes, and
up to three people can parasail together, not to exceed 400 pounds.
Children age six to 18 can parasail with the permission of a legal
guardian. If this type of excursion interests you, make sure to make a
reservation by calling (850) 650-0390 . A 24-hour cancellation notice
is also required. You don’t even have to get wet to parasail, though
you can dip your toes and feet in the water if you wish when coming
back into the boat from the air.

Harbor Watersports dolphin tours are guided by trained guides via jet
skis. Each jet ski holds up to three people (under five years old not
recommended), and while they don’t guarantee dolphin sightings every
trip, they do have a high success rate. You will be able to get up
close to dolphins, but you cannot feed or touch them. Tours start
daily at 9:00 a.m. and last about two hours.

Four-stroke engine Yamaha Waverunners are also available to rent at
Harbor Watersports. These jet skis can seat up to three people, and
renters must be 18 years old and have a valid photo ID. To operate a
jet ski, you must be 16 and have a legal guardian sign for the rental.
If you are under 22 and plan on driving a jet ski, you must pass a
Florida’s boater’s test, administered at Gilligan’s Watersports, and
you must bring your ID and boater certification card with you while
operating the jet ski. Crab Island party spot is only a few minutes
away on jet ski, and the Choctawhatchee Bay offers some excellent jet
ski riding, though they do not allow jet skis to be taken out of the
Gulf of Mexico, for the safety of the riders.

Twenty-five-foot pontoon boats are available for rent and can
accommodate 12 to 15 people.

The Camp Walton Schoolhouse is a non-traditional beach attraction, but
offers a peak into history as an old style school house located in the
heart of historic downtown Fort Walton Beach at Camp Walton. The
schoolhouse opened in 1912 as a one-room school for children in grades
one through eight. In 1927, an additional room was added for children
in grades nine through 12. In 1936, the school closed down and a new
all-brick school was built for the students. The Junior Service League
and the Okaloosa County School board restored this school to its
former glory in 1974 and gave it to the City of Fort Walton.

The Camp Walton Schoolhouse can be found alongside the Indian Temple
Mound, the Indian Temple Mound Museum, and the Garnier Post Office
Museum. All four of these historic landmarks are located at 139
Miracle Strip Parkway in Fort Walton, which is a short drive from
Destin, Florida and worth it if you are looking to add a little
educational time into your vacation. All sites are funded by the
Friends of The Museum organization.

The Camp Walton Schoolhouse is open from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. on
Monday through Saturday, so make sure to plan your trip during these
hours.
Today the Camp Walton Schoolhouse is an important museum and
historical spot that serves as a reminder of what school was like
decades ago, complete with the black board in the front of the room
students desks, as well as a few other memorable things that were used
to educated students in the early 1900s.

Scuba Tech of NW Florida, Inc. is where you can go to learn to scuba
dive in Destin, Florida or charter a dive trip if you are already
certified. Learn the ropes of scuba diving or just try it out to see
if like it via the “Try SCUBA” program.

The Try SCUBA program takes customers out on the Mongoose, a 33-foot
pontoon boat Coast Guard certified four up to 30 passengers, to the
dive site and allows them to be independent from any connections to
the land and dive down to a maximum of 40 feet under the water. At
this depth, divers will be able to explore the site and get a feel of
what it is like to scuba dive. If they enjoy the experience, it’s time
to move on to further instruction, and ScubTech provides the best. It
is a Universal Referral Facility with complete certification abilities
acceptable at all SCUBA agencies. Try SCUBA counts towards Open Water
certification, should you choose to continue training.

Snorkeling is also available where you will be taken to one of two
different locations where you will be able to get in the water and
look around using a snorkel to breath. Prices range from $25 to $30
per person, and these trips last up to three hours and also may offer
the Try SCUBA program. Riders must be at least five years old.

For those people who have been certified to dive in open water,
ScubaTech offers charters and trips. The charter is a four-hour,
two-dive trip to Destin’s natural limestone ledges, wrecks, and/or
artificial reefs on the Sea Cobra, the fasted and most comfortable
boat for its size in the Destin area, with two drop-down ladders on a
large platform and two giant-stride entries to make getting on and off
easy. Tank racks and bench seats are designed for divers’ comfort.

On a typical scuba charter trip, you will dive down about 87 to 90
feet on the first dive and see the natural limestone ledge featuring
soft corals, tropical fish, and sponges and
ranging from two to 10 feet in height and up to 110 feet deep. On the
second dive you will dive down about 55 to 70 feet to see one of many
wrecks in the area including three barges, two Liberty ships,
airplanes LST landing craft, Miss Louise tug boat, and Destin’s Bridge
Rubble. Dive charters are also available to the Destin jetties. Rates
are typically $80 per person, and equipment is not included in this
price. Minimum age is 12.

Visit the ScubaTech dive shop where you can rent equipment or purchase
everything scuba. ScubaTech is located at 301 Harbor Boulevard (aka
Highway 98 East) in Destin, Florida. They can be reached by phone at
(850) 837-2822 or online at www.scubatechnwfl.com.

This 73-foot passenger speedboat can carry up to 119 passengers and still go fast. The Sea Blaster is the Gulf’s largest speedboat, and a ride on this speed boat is an experience you won’t forget no matter how old you are.

The Sea Blaster is manned by Captain Larry, who has been entertaining families with Destin water sports since 1995. Available cruises include the three-hour Snorkeling-Dolphin Combo Cruise ($30 for adults, $20 for children 5 through 12 years old, free for 4 and under) where you can snorkel (snorkeling equipment in both adult and children’s sizes and instruction provided) with an hour and a half in the water and an hour and a half cruising the beaches in search of dolphins. Even if you don’t snorkel, you’ll still get wet, so dress accordingly.

The one-and-a-half-hour Beach-Dolphin Cruise is another option ($20 for adults, $10 for children, 4 and under free) that takes you along the beach looking for Dolphins, and although you don’t get in the water, you will get wet.

Finally, the two-hour Sunset-Dolphin Cruise ($24 per adult, $12 for children, 4 and under free) is structured to be a dry and relaxing cruise along the beautiful Gulf beaches.

While on the Sea Blaster you will be offered a variety of drinks, some for adults only, but no food is served. You may bring your own food and drinks, but no glass containers are allowed on the Sea Blaster. Separate men’s and women’s restrooms are available and are kept very clean.

This is a great trip for large groups, families, or couples. All ages are welcome, and access to the boat is a breeze via a ramp, no ladders. While snorkeling, a lifeguard is on duty. You can make reservations for the Sea Blaster by calling (850)-654-6888.

Howl at the Moon is located in Destin, Florida and serves Destin, Fort Walton, and surrounding areas. Howl at the Moon is a dueling piano bar that plays popular hits and promises that you’ll know 90% of the lyrics, so you and everyone else in the club can sing along all night long. The handpicked piano players are some of the best musicians in town and run the show as you dance, sing along, and get your party on. The excitement is intoxicating, and this isn’t just a bar, it’s a full out rock ‘n roll production.

Enjoy fresh recognizable tunes from mainstream pop music as well as 70s, 80s, and 90s hits as you find “friends you have not met yet.” The nostalgia and camaraderie is synergistic at Howl at the Moon, making for an ambiance like no other, and everyone has a good time. Even the staff gets in on the show with “Show Time” routines on stage or at the bar, and some actually perform with the piano players. Whether you are an everyday tourist, a local, a business traveler, or celebrating a special occasion, Howl at the Moon will keep you entertained. If you are planning a birthday, anniversary, or bachelor/bachelorette party at the beach, this nightclub is the perfect spot to let loose.

Every Wednesday night is Ladies Night at Howl at the Moon, and every Thursday is Thirsty Thursday. Fridays feature different seasonal themes and holiday celebrations, and every Saturday it’s Saturday Night Duel.

Howl at the Moon first opened in 1990 in Cincinnati, Ohio, where it was an instant success. The company continued to grow and opened in Destin/Fort Walton Beach in the summer of 1999.

Every Sunday How at the Moon features Moons’ Comedy Zone if you are in need for some laughing therapy. Other special events are also hosted here such as hypnotist shows. If you’d like to make a reservation to ensure you get the best seat in the house (they fill up quickly), you may do so, as long as you are in your seat by 8:00 p.m. You can make reservations online at their website, http://www.howlatthemoondestin.com/HowlDestin.htm.

McGuire’s Irish Pub calls itself one of America’s great steakhouses and has earned that reputation by winning dozens of awards for excellence, becoming a nationally-known landmark along the Emerald Coast. Located at 33 Hwy 98 in the heart of Destin, McGuire’s features the best of Irish and American beverages and cuisine. With an on-site brewery, wine cellar and Irish gift store, McGuire’s succeeds at replicating the feel of a turn-of-the-century New York Irish saloon.

The restaurant is decorated with over one million $1 bills signed by guests since its opening in 1977, and thousands gather beneath them for St. Patrick’s Day celebrations every March. It is open daily from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 a.m. for lunch and dinner.

The lunch and dinner menus are similar, but McGuire’s offers a hearty $6.95 lunch special meal each weekday with entrees ranging from shepherd’s pie to fish and chips. The bar is open all day and guests can enjoy a variety of shots, martinis, and house specialties such as the Irish Wake—a drink so potent, guests are limited to only three. McGuires also has a large wine list and seven house-brewed ales and beers to choose from.

Appetizers include their famous 18-cents Senate Bean Soup, and specialties such as corned beef-filled Irish eggrolls and homemade Irish potato chips with blue cheese topping. Seafood is featured as Cedar Planked Galway Salmon, Ale-Battered Shrimp or Oysters and a Maryland-Style Crab Cake Platter, among others. McGuire’s prides itself in serving only USDA Certified Prime beef and offers it as New York Strip, Filet Mignon, and a Hickory Smoked Prime Rib.

Angus steak burgers are ground from their own steak trimmings and come in two dozen different variations with toppings ranging from smoked Gouda cheese to liverwurst. An entire page of the menu is devoted to Traditional Pub Fare and includes such classics as Corned Beef and Cabbage, Steak and Mushroom Pie and authentic Irish Lamb Stew. Dessert offerings include hot or frozen Irish Coffee bread pudding with Irish whisky sauce.
